Here is a recipe for a simple chocolate cake that serves 8-12 people:
Ingredients:
- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add the milk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla to the dry ingredients and mix until well combined.
- Stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth. The batter will be thin.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean.
- Remove the cakes from the oven and allow to cool for 10 minutes before removing them from the pans to cool completely on a wire rack.
- Once the cakes are completely cool, you can frost them with your favorite chocolate frosting. Enjoy!
