Here is a recipe for homemade chicken doner kabab:
Ingredients:
- 500 grams chicken breasts
- 1 small onion, finely diced
- 1 small piece ginger, grated
- 2 cloves garlic, grated
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon coriander seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh mint
- 1 egg
- Pita bread or lavash bread
- Lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and yogurt sauce for serving (optional)
Instructions:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the chicken breasts, diced onion, grated ginger, grated garlic, cumin seeds, coriander seeds, paprika, garam masala, salt, parsley, and mint.
- Beat the egg and add it to the mixture, then mix everything together well.
- Preheat a grill or griddle pan over medium heat.
- Place the chicken mixture in the center of the grill or griddle and press it down with a spatula to form a large, flat patty.
- Grill the chicken for 8-10 minutes on each side, or until it is cooked through and browned on the outside.
- As the chicken is grilling, warm the pita bread or lavash bread in a dry skillet or on the grill.
- Once the chicken is cooked, slice it into thin strips.
- To assemble the doner kababs, place some lettuce, tomato, onion, and yogurt sauce (if using) in the center of a piece of pita or lavash bread. Top with the sliced chicken and roll up the bread around the filling.
- Serve the doner kababs hot, with extra yogurt sauce on the side if desired. Enjoy!
